Now this is Snow!

It started to snow again this evening right before the sun went down. The kids went out and played a little bit, then they got cold and came in and watching a new Muppets Christmas movie that was on television. The next time we looked outside again there was enough snow that had accumulated on the ground that they could build a snowman, so I bundled them up and they went out to play. The sun had already gone down and it was dark, but that didn't stop them or the other neighborhood kids. All the kids who live in our circle were outside playing in the snow, building snowmen. Dan got home from work right at the perfect time, the kids were just getting started playing and he was able to help them with a snowman. Here's a picture of Thomas and Letty in the front yard of our neighbor's house. I love the lights on their house in the background. And those rosy red cheeks on Letty just look so cute. If you notice, Thomas doesn't have a coat on, that's because he doesn't have one that fits. We just realized that this morning. Guess what we are doing tomorrow. Also, Letty's bibbers that she has on are way too small, but she's so skinny that they still fit her body, just not the length. It's a good thing that she has tall boots on.

Here's Jacyn eating some snow, it's not the best picture, but it was one of those perfect timing shots.

Here's Thomas with his huge snowball/base of the snowman. Dan told him keep pushing it around the yard until he couldn't push it anymore. He was able to push that ball around for a long time. He was pretty proud of that snowball.

And here's Dan and the kids and the little neighbor boy, Dallin, with the big snowman that they built. The day after Thanksgiving at Roberts they were giving away a snowman kit in a cute little decorated box to the first 150 people there, both my mom and I got one. That's what we used on this snowman for his eyes, nose, mouth, pipe, buttons, heart and scarf.

I noticed that the snowman looked like he was tilting a little bit and I walked away for a minute and came back and I guess the snow was just too wet because this is what happened.....Dead Snowman!

The reason you see so much grass in the pictures is because the kids used up all the snow that there was on the ground to make the snowman. But there is actually a lot of snow, they got a pretty big snowman out of it.

After we got the kids in and got all their wet clothes off we all snuggled up together on the couch to wind down and watch the 10:00 news. Yes, it was that late, but we couldn't deprive the kids of playing the snow, you never know it if will still be there in the morning. Anyway, the newscasters said that all of the Washington County schools were going to be closed tomorrow because of the snow. That just seems so crazy to me, but my neighbor pointed out that because we normally don't even get this much snow down here we don't even have plows for the roads. So far the snow is just really wet and slushy and isn't even sticking to the roads. It's not even supposed to get cold enough tonight to turn it into ice either. But then my neighbor called me and said that she had a message from her daughter's teacher saying that they didn't have school tomorrow. Earlier when Thomas was building the snowman he told Dan that he didn't think there was going to be any school tomorrow because of all this snow. Dan told him no way, he would still have school. But Thomas was right. Crazy stuff. Snow day for the kids. I'll take a picture of the dead snowman tomorrow after it's snowed all night and post it for everyone to see.

Our snow was too powdery to make a snowman. My kids will be jealous. :) We had snow one time while we were in California. It was enough to make some tiny snowmen, but they closed school, the military base, and everything. Same thing--they have no snowplows.

I'm glad you guys had fun in the snow. I've got some 18 month coat and snow pants if Jacyn needs any. Not that you're expecting a lot more snow there. I tried to have Ava wear them again this year, but they are too small so she gets Grace's old 3T that are too big.
